Early in January, 1987 four Old Peterites: Cholomondely Dias, Reginald ‘Tico’ Sielman, Bertie Abraham and Brian Ratnayake, together with Major Edward Dias who was a teacher and the Cadet Master at St. Peter’s College, met and started planning to revive the Old Boys’ Union which was previously in existence but was fading away due to members returning home.
Later, on 23rd May, 1987, a small group of Old Peterites met at the Westminster Cathedral Hall in Central London to attend the Inaugural Meeting of St. Peter’s College Colombo OBU (UK Branch). Today, SPC OBU UK is one of the prominent Sri Lankan school past pupils’ associations in the UK.
SPC OBU UK is one of the most prominent Sri Lankan past pupils’ associations in the United Kingdom. Our primary mission is to connect Peterites in the UK, organise social events and fund raising projects. A key event of the year is ‘La Bamba Nite’ Black Tie Dinner Dance. In addition, we held the Annual General Meeting, Christmas event and Summer events.
Champions in Sports, SPC OBU UK has strong Cricket and Rugby teams that have won major trophies over the years.
